P0380 Glow Plug Issues. Hi, I have been on the Forum a while and have historically always bought Mondeo TDCI's. However, I have just bought a 2005 Focus 2.0 TDCi 136 bhp with 125,000 as it was too good a bargain to miss. The only issue with the car is I have fault codes P0380-68 and P0380-64 stored in the PCM when I run Forscan.
Glow plug prices can vary, but somewhere between 25 and 50 per plug is pretty standard, meaning they are a little pricey, but not too bad. In the ford s max the glow plug relay is located towards the rear, beneath the airbox and in front of the gearbox.
7.3 glow plug relay both big post always hot. My 7.3 is not starting in even mildly cold weather of about 40 degrees if its not plugged in. Tested my GPR and even without the key in the ignition BOTH big terminals are hot at all times. The small terminal closest to the front is also always hot. Nothing changes when the key is turned to "run
1999-2003 glow plug control schematic. Working on a 2001 7.3 and I think I may be having an issue with the control module/relay for the glow plug relay. Wondering if somebody has the schematic for this device. Relay and glow plugs are new and seems to work when I apply 12 volts and I can measure voltage across the relay and see a voltage drop
20 Years of ownership of a 99 7.3. 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Stancor 586-902 Glow plug relay - Anyone running the Stancor 586-902 GPR? Mine stock relay went bad and I replaced it and it’s not powering again and we think it’s bad (again) so I saw people were running the Stancor one. Who’s using and how’s it working for you.
Take off the wires going to the plugs and use a multi meter or a test lamp. Connect the lamp or meter to battery positive then the other connector to the wiring connector on each glow plug in turn.12 volts or a lit lamp means the plug is working fineobviously no reading means open circuit. 👍. 2.
1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Glow Plug Controller, Glow Plug Relay - So on my 2001 E 350 Superduty Diesel. I see online and everywhere else that I don't have a Glow Plug Relay. I supposedly have a Glow Plug Controller. Thats the electronic aluminum box with two connectors going into it.
to check the relay, remove the two small wires and connect 12 volts to them. positive to one, negative to the other. the relay should close and energize the glow plugs. if it does not, it is either a starter solenoid, or it is bad. Meg, you said both small posts have 12V when the key is on.
The little wire with the cap, "connects the two, when needed, "only when needed', as in, to turn your glow plugs "ON".. The way you have them set-up now, they are "always connected'. Either your glow plugs are always "ON", or their not on at all. Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) - Possible Glow plug relay issues (1985 F250 6.9) - Hey
In this video I show you how a properly working glow plug relay functions, as well as how to test and diagnose a bad one.
Hi, my Focus 2006 tdci 1.6 110 went into Ford yesterday for a regeneration (dreaded DPF again!), all done but the mechanic said the car was still in limp mode so would do another diagnostic. called back an hour later to inform me that there is water in the glow plug relay (???) and would cost around the £180 mark - bringing the grand total
The Glow Plug relay comes on between 1 and 120 sec. and does not come on at all if oil temp is above 140F. b. Verify that B+ is being supplied on the large BK/W wire going to the Glow Plug relay. c. Install a voltmeter to the glow plug feed terminal (two brown wires or center terminal on the shunt).
Best Answer. Copy. The glowplug relay is located on the top of the engine, to the left of the fuel filter housing. It looks like a small metal box mounted on a bracket with an electrical harness
To check the wiring just disconnect everything and using a ohm meter ohm out the wires. If you look at the wires gong to the glow plugs it will look like a direct short since a good glow plug will read between 0.6 and 2 ohms. So disconnect the plugs to the valve cover harness to eliminate the under valve cover wiring.
Once it's started up it drives fine. testing glow plug s is a really easy job . 1.. lay hands on a simple multimeter ie electircal resistance tester . meter . about a tenner on the bay 2. take the connector bar off the glowplugs and strip it off back to the large phillips screw on the insulator on the right of the glow plugs..
